As the cultural capital of regional Australia, Townsville's cultural and performing arts scene is part of the fabric of community life, with a variety of acts, live shows, and exhibitions regularly presented throughout the city's creative spaces and galleries. 

Riverway and Pinnacles Gallery*
Located along the Ross River, Riverway is a hub of sports, leisure and art. The Riverway Arts Centre entwines creative and natural environments to create new and unique experiences for all. Catch a performance in the theatre or meander through an exhibit at Pinnacles Gallery. While you're there, take a dip in the lagoons which cover a size larger than three Olympic-sized swimming pools, or soak up some sun on the deck. With rostered lifeguards and free admission, Riverway offers a great day out for all ages. 

World Theatre Gallery  Free
Charters Towers World Theatre Gallery reflects the many facets of the region, including work from local Queensland artists and objects of historical significance, to contemporary photography works showcasing both urban and rural landscapes. 

Perc Tucker Regional Gallery  Free
Perc Tucker is Townsville's premier regional art gallery, located in the heart of the city along Flinders Street. The gallery offers a dynamic range of local, national and international exhibitions complemented by workshops and programs. 

TYTO Art Gallery and Surrounds  Free
TYTO is a hub of art, culture, nature and knowledge in Ingham. From regional art gallery exhibitions to regular workshops, TYTO is a great place to start exploring art and its various disciplines. 

Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts  Free
Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts offers an exhibition and studio space whose mission is to drive innovation, invite experimentation, encourage excellence and inspire appreciation for contemporary visual art.

Local Productions
From one act plays to theatre restaurants, and even outdoor theatre extravaganzas, local production companies (including Full Throttle Theatre Company, Theatre iNQ, The North Queensland Opera and Music Theatre, Townsville Choral Social and Townsville Little Theatre) all provide a host of stage performances year round!

Stage Door Theatre Restaurant 
Catch talented performers Bernadette and Kevin at Magnetic Island's popular Stage Door Theatre Restaurant. With singing, dancing, hilarious comedy and tongue-in-cheek impersonations, you'll be in for a night filled with laughter; accompanied of course, by a delicious three-course meal and true North Queensland hospitality.  Shows run year round - Friday and Saturday nights; check online for details. 

In the Regions
Outside of Townsville, you can see a variety of outstanding regional talent in exciting productions delivered by Towers Players (Charters Towers), Burdekin Singers & Theatre Company, and the Ingham Theatre Group. Productions include major performances, once act plays and more. 

Drive-In Cinemas
Take a trip down memory lane - or show the kids a glimpse of history - with a nostalgic visit to the drive-in cinema. Enjoy a flick under the stars at the Stardust Drive-in Cinema in Ayr, complete with a retro cafe snack bar!

Australian Festival of Chamber Music
Enjoy a magical combination of tropical winter warmth and the world's finest classical music as 40 musicians from around the world perform in this stunning 10-day festival in Townsville. With morning concert conversations, sunset and evening concerts, free events and island concerts, there really is something for everyone!

Street Art
From public murals dotted around Charters Towers and Home Hill, to Townsville's inner city Street Art revolution, Townsville North Queensland's love of the arts has been integrated into everyday life. Venture through Townsville's inner City Walking Trail to uncover astounding pieces amongst the streets and laneways. Tick off Ayr's Heritage Town Walk to visit the granite and bronze Living Lagoon Sculpture.
